first_img First Day Results Junior Matt Lavery and sophomore Tommi Avant each fired a career-best 67 (-4) in the first round. Lavery then recorded a two-over, 73, in the second round for a total score 140 (67-73) and is tied for sixth-place. Avant followed his career-best with a second round score of 77 for a total score of 144, good for tied for 22nd place. “I was really pleased with how we played today. Matt (Lavery) and Tommi (Avant) led us the first round with great scores of 67. Drew (Ison) and Jack (Kennedy) had solid second rounds with 69 to end the day. We finished the first two rounds with different players shooting under par which was a first for us this season,” said Drake head coach Matt Lewis. Sophomore Jack Kennedy is also tied for sixth-place after shooting an even par 71 then a two-under 69 for a total score 140 (71-69). Story Links Freshman Kyle MacDonald rounded out the team’s effort with a score of 154 (77-77).center_img BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Drake University men’s golf team got out to a solid start at the Hoosier Invitational as the Bulldogs are in third place through 36 holes. Junior Drew Ison carded a two-over, 73, in the first round and then finished his day with a two-under, 69, to be tied for 12th-place (73-69=142). The Bulldogs tallied a season-best 278 in the first round and then tallied a 288 to finish the day with a score of 566.
