first_imgKN grenade attackLess than 72-hours after the Police issued a wanted bulletin for Shemar Wilson, 20, also known as “Abdue” for questioning into theWanted: Shemar Wilson also known as “Abdue”grenade attack on Kaieteur News’ publisher Glenn Lall, they on Monday issued another wanted bulletin, this time for a Turkeyen, Georgetown man.The Police in a release stated that Janiel Howard, 30, also called ‘JP’ of Lot 322 Section C, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown is wanted for questioning in relation to ‘attempting to cause explosion’ which occurred on June 6, 2016, at Saffon Street, Charlestown, Georgetown.However Guyana Times understands that Police have arrested another person in connection with the incident as they continue their probe.The man arrested is allegedly the one who handed over the fragmentation grenade to other individuals with the aim of causing mayhem on Saffon Street. The man, according to reports, also handed over a quantity of cash to the perpetrators to carry out the job.On Friday last, the Police had at least 13 persons in custody but according to reports, most of them were released over the weekend. To date, only three are in custody assisting with investigations while the police are hunting the mastermind and the other.The grenade was hurled at the luxury vehicle belonging to Glenn Lall last Saturday evening during the first night of wake for Assistant Editor Dale Andrews.Persons at the wake recalled hearing a strange sound but assumed it was a shattering glass. However, when a thorough check was made, the grenade was found lying next to the right tyre of Lall’s black Lexus vehicle.The Police were summoned and the area immediately cordoned off while bomb experts removed the device. They noted it was a miracle that the grenade did not explode.It was after the review of the tapes of surveillance cameras, the grey car was sighted. Prompt investigation led to discovery of the car and the arrest of six persons who were later joined by another seven as investigations continued.Wanted: Janiel Howard also called “JP”Meanwhile, the police are encouraging anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the wanted men to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-227, 225-8196, 227-1149, 226-7065, 911 or the nearest police station.last_img read more

first_imgHundreds of homes are without water across Inishowen after a major fault in the water supply.Details of the cause of the fault are still not clear but it is suspected a burst water mains may be to blame.Hundreds of homes and businesses from Greencastle to Shrove have been affected by the fault. Water crews have been working all evening to identify and correct the problem but it is believed the supply will remain off until tomorrow.Locals are anxious the fault will be fixed as soon as possible with businesses and homes gearing up for Christmas.“I’m sure the council is working around the clock to sort the problem but it is a pain.“The worst thing about ti is the lack of communication. Nobody was really told about it apart from word of mouth. “People, especially the elderly, need to be able to access water.
