I thought it was maybe a good time to make that transition.”When former Mayor Bill Bogaard asked Tornek to serve on the authority, the airport found itself in an adversarial relationship with the city of Burbank and there was litigation.Since that time things have vastly improved, including a successful push for a new terminal.“We campaigned for and succeeded, and the voters of Burbank approved the new terminal. The financial condition of the airport, pre-COVID at least was in good shape with adequate reserves.”Tornek said he would nominate John Kennedy who has expressed interest in authority to the authority in his place.“It has been a privilege to serve in this capacity for eight years,” Tornek wrote in his letter announcing his resignation. “And I have enjoyed working collaboratively to provide safe and convenient facilities at the airport for the benefit of the public.” Business News Make a comment 20 recommended0 commentsShareShareTweetSharePin it Get our daily Pasadena newspaper in your email box.
